Bailey - Pottery Raffle
Tickets are 1 for $1 or 6 for $5. The raffle will be held on September 6, 2008. All proceeds go to the library and help with financial assistance that the budget can not provide. Sponsored by the Friends of the Bailey Library.
Charles Thompson Pottery
Although born in Colorado and not indian, Charles Thompson lived the first years of his life on the Mojave Indian Reservation outside Parker, Arizona. At age twelve, Charlie moved back at Colorado and began making pottery. By the age of fifteen he had already won 1st place at a number of juried shows, including Foothills Art Gallery and was selling his work at the Jerome Hotel in Aspen and the Mesa De Art Gallery in Snowmass Village, Colorado.
Charlie studied with Jim and Nan McKinnell at Loretto Heights College in Denver which explains the Oriental and European influneces in some of his work. He received a B.A. in Art Education and taught adult education in Englewood, Colorado.
Charlie is now a studio artist with pieces in a number of private and corporate collections, including the late Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead and the Disney Corporation. His work is on permanent display at the Wilderness Hotel in Orlando, Florida and can also be seen in a number of galleries throughout Colorado and New Mexico.
